Örebro parkrun #20 run report

IMG_3610

Johan is one of our fantastic, amazing volunteers that helps us out and understands the value of giving and taking. Take part at parkrun some weeks and help out and encourage other weeks. That's how parkrun works, every week for free means that we need YOUR help sometimes. There's no need to be hesitant, it's a great way to get involved in a super positive thing and meet some really cool people; you also get to wear a funky, yellow high-vis vest with parkrun on the back.

This week's Örebro parkrun was made possible by 9 volunteers:

Matt FORD • Andrew LOWRY • Ulrika FORD • Erika BERGENTZ • Annica SJÖLUND • Wilhelm BERGENTZ • Sadie FORD • Johan LINDSKOG • Veida HARLIN

We had 40 runners, of whom 10 were first timers and 13 recorded new Personal Bests. These are great stats which shows we are growing, new people are checking us out and our "regulars" are consistently better their times week after week.

There's no need to be put off by the weather as we have "ordered" sun from 09.30-10.30 on Saturday mornings, as was the case this week.

Just look at that view!

Please keep spreading the word about our amazing event and remember your personal barcode is a free entry to ANY parkrun around the world. We are growing in Sweden with events in Hagaparken and Huddinge in Stockholm, Skatås in Göteborg and now event Toyenparken in Oslo.

Örebro parkrun #19 run report

Örebro parkrun 19/8

It threatened with much rain but in the end, as usual, it was dry and in fact sunny for the 19th Örebro parkrun. This weeks' theme was to encourage "newbies" to our amazing event, to highlight our inclusivity, that everyone and anyone is welcome and how much fun it can be. We have over 550 registered Örebro parkrunners and get an average of around 55 people per event. We are just touching the tip of the iceberg in terms of potential runners/ walkers at parkrun and we need you guys to keep spreading the word and encouraging your friends, family, colleagues down to us. What's not to like? It's FREE, we record your time, give you an age grading, cheer you on and are there come rain or shine week in week out. No more excuses let's get active.

3 parkrun tourists this week, Steven and Emma from England and Michael from Ireland - great to meet you guys.

ÖAIK

On the 16th September we will co-host parkrun with Örebro AIK running/ triathlon club. This will be an event where we will highlight the benefits of local clubs (and of course others are welcome to get in touch). We will have a number of pace groups, which is simply a chance to learn how you run at a controlled pace and maybe a chance to beat your pb. It took me over a year when I first started running (many years ago now!) to get the courage to even approach a running club and in fact my 1st time, which was with Solvikingarna in Göteborg, wasn't the most successful as I got stitch (håll!) and couldn't keep up! So here is a golden opportunity to come down, mix it up, ask questions and meet great, friendly ÖAIK;are!

Thanks as always goes out to our volunteers Matt, Andrew, Ulrika, Mille, Julia, Petter, Ronny, Sadie and Frida

This week 38 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers and 10 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 7 different clubs took part.

Örebro parkrun #18 run report

parkrun Örebro 12/8

Today started with a little rain but it cleared up before 9:30, and word must have got out that Matt was in Göteborg, so today we were a little smaller than last week with only 43 runners. But still it was a great day and the abysmal (albeit earnest) attempt at Swedish at the pre-race briefing didn't deter everyone from having a great time out in the beautiful Rynningeviken.

We had a couple of 'tourists' from Stockholm, Caroline and Hugh, who commented that Örebro was the most beautiful parkrun they had done - and they are both in the 100 club (150+ actually). We had 6 first timers this week and 15 PBs, so word is spreading around and people are improving.

Thanks as always goes out to our volunteers Tony, Thomas, Stephanie, Petter, Johan, Julia, Erik and Andrew.

This week 43 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 8 were first timers and 15 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 3 different clubs took part.

Örebro parkrun #17 run report

Örebro Parkrun den 5 augusti. Ännu en underbar start på lördagen

This picture says a lot about the type of event we are creating in Örebro. A total mixture of people, running or walking, being active with their friends, familes or even new-found connections they have made through parkrun. It's great to see new people turning up every week, in fact 11 1st-timers this week, and even more so when people return wekk after week. Even after only 17 weeks there are quite a few "regulars" and it's our pleasure to welcome them back and see friendships forming!

parkrun is EVERY week of the year (weather permitting) and in order to keep it this way and free we really encourage people to become part of our volunteering-team sometimes. It really is as much fun helping out as taking part, we promise! You get points as a volunteer just the same as when you complete every parkrun and are entitled to a cool t-shirt already after 25 times! You can volunteer through our webite or dropping us a mail to: orebrohelpers@parkrun.com

Great weather again this week which made "fika" even more enjoyable afterwards at Naturens Hus.

I won't be there next week so "Kiwi" Andrew will be looking after everyone. I'll be down in Göteborg, enjoying a new parkrun in the gorgeous Skatås which is part of Delsjöområdets naturreservat. parkrun is growing and the week after opens Huddinge parkrun, followed a few weeks after by Oslo parkrun. Exciting times!

18 new PB's today! WOW, that's brilliant and shows people are loving parkrun enough to keep coming back and bettering themselves.

As ever a big shout out to our volunteers who this week were:
Stephanie LOWRY • Andrew LOWRY • Julia HAMMARSTRÖM • Gunnviol KATTILAKOSKI • Thomas BERGMAN • Louise FURÅKER • Nicklas FORSLING
