Haga parkrun, event 15, run report

Our first julafton! It wasn’t quite a white Christmas, but we had a fantastic atmosphere for our first parkrun on julafton. We weren’t sure how many to expect, but we had 38 runners joining us on Christmas Eve and a good mix of santa hats and other seasonal fancy dress amongst the runners.
Today we welcomed 20 new runners to Haga parkrun, which was great to see. Congratulations to the 4 runners who chose a seasonal day to record a new PB – Dennis Sundman, Staffan Sundvall, Hugh Manning and Håkan Bergström – and of course to all that joined us to make a great start to julafton.
And - as always - a big thanks to the volunteers this week - Cilla, Slimane, Anna, Caroline and Olof - without you, we would not be able to put on parkrun!
Finally the results. For the men, the first runner to cross the line was ‘unknown’ (well actually it was Markus Bohman, but missing a barcode, next time Markus!), followed by regular Dennis Sundman and Filip Ainouz. For the women, Åsa Lundin (this time with barcode!) was first over the line, followed by Sophie Magnusson and then Lisa Aschan. (Interestingly Åsa was probably just 1 or 2 seconds off the age-grade course record held by Gunnar Duren – next time Åsa!).
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves on Saturday and the glögg and pepparkakor afterwards. Don't forget also to check out the photos from this and every other Haga parkrun too!
We look forward to another parkrun now on nyårsafton and many more parkruns throughout 2017!

Event 14

10th December

This was my first week as run director and I was delighted to be able to announce, after having had to cancel the event the week before, that we were back on again on Saturday. The weather had been kind to us during the week, melting away the ice, but the snow was back on Saturday (still no rain!) creating a very wintry, but beautiful course.

It was great to welcome some more visitors and first timers this week. We hope you enjoyed our running winter wonderland!

31 runners braved the wintry conditions this week, 13 first timers, and 4 PBs including our parkrun Country Manager Deri Thomas (must be all those saffron buns!) and regular volunteer Claire Ward-Passey – great work especially with the conditions!

First place in the women’s category this week was Eef VAN DONGEN, 20:47 (new PB), then only 3 seconds split places second and third with both first timers Riina KUUSELO and Anna BACHMAN finishing in 21:02 & 21:05 respectively.

First place in the men’s category this week was Jere PAJUNEN in 17:24 that is now 2 firsts out of 2 for Jere. Second place was Deri Thomas in 17:51 (new PB), and third Timmy KARLSSON in 18:26

Thanks, as always to our volunteers, we couldn’t have parkrun without you: Hector HAINES, Leo HEEMSKERK, Nikolai HERRMANN, Anna IHME, Fredrik LINTON, Cilla PETTERSSON, Frida PRAGSTEN, Deri THOMAS

Looking forward to seeing you all again on Saturday!
