Haga parkrun, event 31, Run Report

Event 31
22nd April

We continued our rain free streak at this weeks parkrun event. We arrived to blue skies but the cool breeze in the air made sure the thermals were still required. Although spring is reluctant to come that didn’t deter the 52 runners that joined us on the start line at 9:30.

It was great to welcome some more visitors and first timers (18 out of 52) this week. We hope you enjoyed our wonderful park and will come back for some more parkrun fun next weekend.

First place in the women’s category this week was Eef VAN DONGEN, 19:33 (new PB), then Sarah BEALE in 22:48 was second, and third place was Laura BRADLEY in 25:55.

First place in the men’s category this week was Gavin MCDERMOTT in 17:04. Second place was Alister CUMMING in 19:02 (new PB), and third Neil CALDER in 19:12 (new PB).

Thanks, as always to our volunteers, we couldn’t have parkrun without you: Sarah-Jane BARRABLE, Rachel HAINES, Peter HANSSON, Annicea MADINE, Colm O CALLAGHAN, Lisanne SCHUT, Pete SCOLLS, Claire WARD-PASSEY, Olof WETTERLING

Looking forward to seeing you all again on Saturday!

Haga parkrun, Event 29, Run Report

It was great to see people out, running and continuing to live their lives as normal. They showed that, despite the previous day's tragic events, that the people of Stockholm, both residents and tourists, are not afraid.

Today, on arrival at Haga parken, Run Director Claire was horrified that it was starting to rain - "oh no", she thought "we've not had rain since Haga parkrun started and this English girl does not want English weather!" Luckily it stopped just in time for our 55 runners and 6 volunteers to enjoy their Saturday morning, free, timed 5km run (defiantly not race!). We had a lot of visitors to day including people from the UK and a group from Finland, and 23 First-Timers - welcome, we hope you enjoyed our beautiful, rain-free parkrun. We also had a large, noisy, gaggle of geese watching us from the grass :-)

The results - including: New Course Record :-)

For the men Mårten BOSTRÖM was first to finish in a new Course Record of 16:17, he was VERY closely followed (in fact they crossed the line together) by Markus BOHMAN who recorded a PB, and 2nd fastest ever time at Haga of 16:18 Completing the top 3 was Alexander BERTHOLDS in 17:46. The challenge has now been set - how long will Mårten's course record stand?

For the women Eef VAN DONGEN was first with a new PB of 19:44, Alice HUGOSSON was second in 19:53 and Matleena BOSTRÖM was third with a new PB of 20:04.

Our volunteer team was small, but perfectly formed and consisted of: Hector HAINES (Timer), Peter HANSSON (Tokens), Hugh MCCARTHY (Course set-up and Scanning), Ana MUNOZ (Marshal), Colm O CALLAGHAN (Marshal & photographer) and Claire WARD-PASSEY (Run Director). Remember, parkrun only happens because people volunteer, so if you've run a few times, please consider helping out one weekend - remember: you get to wear the Gucci* Hi-Viz vests

*not really Gucci ;-)

Have a great week everyone
The Haga Team :-)

Haga parkrun, event 28, run report

A misty morning greeted the runners at Haga parkrun on Saturday, which made conditions a little on the chilly side, but actually pretty decent for running. It was certainly good enough for 9 runners who recorded PBs on Saturday, so well done to Stefan Öström, Björn Sande, Anna Skaring, Kristel Thalström Roland Lycksell, Sarah Beale, Paul Petrie-Repar, Joel Haasdyk & Greco Gonzalez-Miera.
38 runners made it to the start line on Saturday – a few of our ‘regulars’ were testing themselves over 10km later in the day over at Premiarmilen. Nice to see a bunch of new faces (just like every week) and we also had a few tourists visiting this week, including some of the event team at Highbury Fields, London, the Rowe family from Bushy Park with incredibly low barcodes, (not least Alex with number A55) and finally Kirsten Duvall, a regular at Chrissy Fields parkrun in San Francisco who was on holiday visiting a friend who has recently moved to Sweden. We truly are part of a global family!
A big thanks to the volunteers who helped out on Saturday – Olof, James, Sarah-Jane, and with a special mention for Ellen Willson who stepped in at the last minute to take on the Tail Runner role. Thanks Ellen!
Colm was once again out on the course snapping away and taking some fantastic photos that we hope you all enjoy. Remember you can see all these photos (and all the photos from Haga parkrun since the start) here.
Finally, the official ‘results’ up front. For the men, Niklas Gavelfält was first over the line in 18:23, followed by Roland Lycksell in 19:27 and then Per Larsson in 20:19.
For the women Sarah Beale was first in 21:39, with Kirsten Duvall second in 25:21 and Ramona Åkermark-Mähönen in third in 26:33.
The three highest age grades were recorded by: Björn Suneson with 77.77% (with his time of 22:25), followed by Roland Lycksell with 77.04% (19:27) and then Svante Wetterling with 75.13% (21:43).
Next week sees the launch of Örebro parkrun, and so for the first time we will have two events running in Sweden. For all those in Stockholm, we look forward to seeing you at Haga parkrun next Saturday at 9.30! Tell your friends, bring your friends and join us!
