Haga parkrun, Event #56, run report

Time flies when you are having fun - or when you are busy! But a Haga parkrun week would not be a Haga parkrun week unless we wrote a little run report and gave ourselves a reminder that we were all awesome and turned up to run Haga parkrun last Saturday! Last week we had the pleasure of hosting a 'club event' with our friends at Club Running Sweden.

They provided pacers for different finish times (20, 23, 25, 27 and 30 minutes) and also helped with a great volunteer turnout around the course to cheer on all the 66 runners whom we welcomed to the park on Saturday. We all thought that it was a great success and something that we would like to do again. We had some feedback that people really enjoyed having the pacers, and that's something we'll aim to do again.

The day was also memorable as we celebrated the 100th parkrun for both Natasha and Wynand, our South African parkrun friends who are making their lives in Sweden. They first arrived in Stockholm in the snowy winter and have been a near constant presence at Haga parkrun ever since, making friends, volunteering and generally being a huge positive spirit for the group. So it was great that they could celebrate their 100th parkrun with us, and of course, crossed the line together. Lucky we had (just!) managed to bake a cake......

A big thanks too for Christer Schapiro, who took the photos today. A little step above what we are used to on the picture front! Go check them out, we have been spoiled.

Come and join us on Saturday and capture the last few weeks of autumn with us in Hagaparken. It's a long time before we see those leaves again!

Haga parkrun, Event 55, Run Report

A rather grey and rainy Saturday morning was not enough to deter 71 runners from their weekly 5km run around beautiful Haga parken. This week we welcomed 20 first-timers, including visitors from Bushy Park, London, home of the very first parkrun! We hope you all enjoyed your run and fika afterwards.

This week one of volunteers, Peter HANSSON, celebrated his 25th time volunteering at Haga. All of us at Haga parkrun would like to thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm - including your 'cold dance' which, no doubt, will be seen again soon!

This week's results were brought to you by not one but FOUR run directors! After a stressful session in Expresso House where the stopwatch refused to connect to the computer the first of our 4 (Claire) had a trip down to Älvsjö to meet with run director number 2 (Colm from Huddinge) to try and use his laptop and cables. This didn't work either so run director 3 (Matt from Orebro) collected the kit from Claire and delivered it to run director number 4 (Deri) who had to resort to getting the times off the stop watch manually! This is why your results were late, but in the end 1 stopwatch could not defeat the combined efforts of 4 RDs!

This week 71 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 5 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different clubs took part.

The full list of today's volunteers is:

Claire WARD-PASSEY • Paul BALSOM • Anna FREW • Eva-Lena EIREFELT • Mija THOMAS • Olof WETTERLING • Peter HANSSON • Patrick JOYCE

Cecilia BERTHOLDS (VW35-39) (Unattached) was third (15th overall) over the line in 23:06.

Allan CHRISTIE (VM35-39) – 73.03% for the time 18:10 (second overall).

Happy running :-)
