New Year’s Day 2022 parkrun is ON!

Hello parkrunners,

You read correctly! New Year's Day 2022 is on a Saturday, so there will be a New Year's Day parkrun.

Will your New Year's resolutions be to get fit and healthy, spend more time outdoors and away from screens, or catch up with loved ones more regularly? This is the perfect opportunity to do all those things right from the very start of the year!

Bring your friends and family. Everyone is welcome! You can run, jog or walk.

Please note that children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and dogs must be on lead.

If you're new to parkrun:

1. Sign up for free on our website:
2. Print off the barcode emailed to you once you sign up.
3. Bring your barcode on Saturday to Ribban (next to the Ribersborg Kallbadhus carpark) in time for a 9:30 start.

We're also hosting a dress up Christmas celebration parkrun on Saturday, December 18th, plus a rare Christmas Day parkrun on Saturday, December 25th, so come and join us!

We aim to host parkrun all year round, but sometimes winter comes in strong and the course is too slippery to be safe, so keep an eye out in these locations just in case we have to cancel:

Looking back over 2019

Malmö Ribersborg parkrun has had an epic year in 2019 from a bumper New Year's Day double through to celebrating parkrun Sverige winning the Community Project of the Year award!

We started strong with the New Year's Day double, in cooperation with our friends at Amager Faellad parkrun in Copenhagen. 152 runners and 12 volunteers braved the gale-force winds and joined in the celebrations. I don't think the Malmö Ribersborg Kallbadhuset has ever seen such a long line for fika!

It was wonderful to see such great support at our first anniversary in April. Everyone brought their families and friends to join in, and we enjoyed drinks, brownies and good company on the lawn after the finish. The day really highlighted the wonderful community spirit we share at our parkrun, where all are welcome and included.

Whilst our Swedish National Day parkrun drew many parkrun tourists, we're particularly happy to see that the number of local regulars has increased significantly over the year. For those of you who like statistics - at this time last year, only 12 people ran, compared to 48 this year! The numbers were even stronger during the summer - peaking in September with 86 participants.

This growth is thanks to those of you who have encouraged family or friends to come down and join us. Our vision is to grow parkrun to the point where everyone has a little company (or competition!) during their run, jog or walk with us, so please keep telling people about parkrun!

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Phil, is really grateful to everyone who volunteered this year. It really makes his job much easier, so a big thank you to all of you who have helped us out. If you'd like to volunteer, email us at You can also see the event roster here:

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Run Director, Michael. He was one of the founding members of our parkrun and is sorely missed. Happily, our two new Run Directors, Carin and Michael, have slotted in smoothly with the Run Director schedule and are a fantastic addition to the Core team.

Many of our parkrunners have featured in the parkrun Nordics newsletter and we love reading about their parkrun experience. The newsletter editors are always keen for content, so if you'd like to share your views on parkrun, please let us know. And if you're not receiving the weekly email newsletter, check your parkrun profile at > Email Options.

Finally, if you'd like to start 2020 off with a parkrun or two, head over to Copenhagen for their New Year's Day double - Amager Fælled at 9.00 with enough time to get to Fælledparken for their 10.30 start.

Happy New Year!

** There were great photos to go with this post, but apparently everyone in Albany, Australia is currently online, so they wouldn't upload. You'll just have to pull up your own memories ;)

One year anniversary, Sverige på fötter and more!

Hello parkrunners,

It's been a fun couple of months for Malmö Ribersborg parkrun. As the weather has improved, attendance numbers are up and everyone is enjoying the sunny course lined with beautiful flowers and cute ducklings.

On April 6th, we celebrated our parkrun's first anniversary with balloons, brownies and prosecco... oh yes, and running, of course!

For something different, a small group of parkrunners casually jogged the course on May 23rd to support Svensk Friidrott's "Sverige på fötter" day. It was a great evening to be at the park and a good time was had by all.

At the beginning of May, we had to say goodbye to one of our founding Run Directors, Michael, as he moved back to the UK for work. We wish Michael the very best for his future and hope that he has a good parkrun near his new home. He'll always be welcome to visit!

Luckily, we have two new Run Directors about to start training. Their names will be revealed in the coming weeks (Ooh! A mystery!) Please give them a warm welcome and all your support as they take on their new roles.

Finally, we're having a special parkrun to kick off our Swedish National Day celebrations on Thursday, June 6th. It will start at 9:30am by Restaurang Ribersborg as usual. Bring your family and friends, and wear your favourite Swedish blue and yellow clothes!

See you all on Saturday!

Swedish National Day – 6th June 2019

Swedish National Day 2019

It's official! Malmö Ribersborg parkrun will hold an extra event on Swedish National Day - Thursday, June 6th, 2019.

Bring your family and friends to kickstart your holiday fun. Everyone is welcome. If you prefer to just relax, we'll need volunteers - you can sign up by emailing

The action will start at 9:30am next to Restaurang Ribersborg as usual. And since it's National Day, let's all wear our brightest Swedish blue and yellow outfits!

Malmö Ribersborg parkrun, January 2019

Malmö Ribersborg parkrun started 2019 with a bang! 152 runners and 12 volunteers ventured out in powerful winds to welcome in the new year on January 1st. Our locals put on a fabulous event for all the visitors who came to for the NYDD (New Year's Day Double) in co-operation with our friends at Amager Faellad parkrun in Copenhagen.

In mid-January, Malmö parkrun featured in the Sydsvenskan newspaper, with a full page article about our family spirit at parkrun and the post-run "fika train". We are thrilled that the article has encouraged a wave of first timers to join us, including a bunch of parkwalk-ers, who are very welcome.

We finished up the month with a sudden cold snap. It forced us to try a new route since ice skates would have been required for the usual trail around  the lakes! Our parkrunners said it was tougher than usual as they didn't have as much push-off power in the snow, but there were still big smiles (and cool icy hairdos) all round at the finish line.

Event #43

Our Event Directors continue to be amazed by the generosity of our volunteers. They give up their running time to help us put on the event each week and we couldn't do it without them. We encourage you all to give volunteering a try. It's very easy - training is given on the day, and so rewarding to see all the appreciation from the runners, plus it doesn't have to be a long term commitment - it's your choice!

Event #43

Finally, a massive THANK YOU to all our parkrunners. You are the ones who make it a fun and friendly experience that we all look forward to each week.

See you all in February!
